A search referrer is the word or phrase used in a search engine that brings an internet user to a website. The daily statistics for a website (page views, data transferred, etc.) also list the search referrers. This blog is a daily compendium of the odd searches, random questions and screwy anomalies that brought people to bridgeandtunnelclub.com, the parent site of Search Referrers of the Day.

Bridge and Tunnel Club is a New York-based website. The two biggest parts of the site are the Big Map, which features pictures of New York City neighborhoods (and beyond), and a local news blog that points readers to interesting articles about the five boroughs. Most of the strange search referrer terms come from the blog.

Search Referrers of the Day is its own site so as not to create a negative feedback loop with the search terms.
